The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for 2025 will begin its outreach from May 1st. This initiative aims to provide work opportunities for youth from low-income households, specifically those with a family income below 200% of the poverty level.

The program, typically lasting between six to eight weeks, includes an educational component focusing on financial literacy alongside employment. Participants may find placements in nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, or private sector businesses.

Interested youth aged 14 to 20 are encouraged to attend the initial outreach sessions. It is necessary for applicants to bring relevant documentation to their selected locations. For participants under the age of 18, having a parent or legal guardian accompany them is recommended.

The outreach sessions are scheduled from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at various locations:

- County Building - DSS 1st Floor, Olean: Sessions will be held on May 6, 13, 15, 19, 27, and 29.

- Little Valley Library, Little Valley: A session is on May 12.

- Blount Library, Franklinville: Sessions are on May 8 and 22.

- Salamanca Public Library, Salamanca: Sessions occur on May 14, 21, and 28.

- Randolph Free Library, Randolph: A session is on May 23.

- Cattaraugus Free Library, Cattaraugus: A session is on May 20.

Youth are advised to prepare the requisite documentation in advance to ensure a smooth application process.
