The Chautauqua County Department of Planning & Development is reaching out to the community for feedback on the Northern Chautauqua Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs (LWRP). This initiative aims to gather public input through a survey to aid in developing comprehensive plans for the area's waterfronts.
An LWRP is a plan created by local communities to manage land and water use along their waterfronts. It serves as a framework for establishing a community's vision, policies, and implementation strategies concerning its waterfront areas. The planning process involves collaboration with the New York State Department of State and covers several locations including the Towns of Dunkirk, Hanover, Pomfret, Portland, Ripley, Sheridan, Westfield; the Villages of Silver Creek and Westfield; and the City of Dunkirk.
This survey follows earlier public meetings that introduced participants to LWRPs and discussed potential projects. The first meeting provided an overview of LWRPs, boundary maps, and inventory considerations. The second meeting focused on identifying key projects for each community's LWRP and gathering general feedback from attendees.
The survey seeks further input on proposed projects within each community's LWRP. Residents can participate by visiting www.northernchqlwrp.com or scanning a QR code provided by organizers. The deadline for completing the survey is December 23rd, 2024.
For inquiries about the survey, individuals can contact the Chautauqua County Department of Planning & Development at 716-661-8900 or via email at chautauquaplanning@chqgov.com.
