The Chautauqua County Office for Aging Services is set to host its inaugural CHQAging Expo & Conference, aimed at providing resources, education, and community connections for older adults. Scheduled for May 22, 2025, at SUNY Fredonia's Williams Center, the event begins with a grand opening at 9:30 AM, followed by a Resource Fair open until 2:00 PM. Lunch will be available from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Informative breakout sessions will take place at 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM, highlighting topics such as dementia awareness, Medicare fraud, scam prevention, and estate planning. The event is free for older adults and caregivers, though registration is required by April 25.

Dana Corwin, Director of the Chautauqua County Office for Aging Services, stated, “This year’s Older Americans Month theme, ‘Flip the Script on Aging,’ challenges us to transform the way we perceive and support aging.” The event is a shift from a summer picnic to a large-scale expo focused on community engagement. Carey Skelton, Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator, anticipates over 1,000 attendees and noted that around 75 agencies will participate.

County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. expressed support, saying, “Ensuring that our seniors have the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives is a priority for Chautauqua County."

Community members can register online or call for assistance. Organizations interested in hosting a table can contact the OFAS Jamestown Office.

Special thanks are extended to sponsors SNAP-Ed and Univera Healthcare for supporting the event.
