Chautauqua County is reflecting on the sacrifices made by veterans and emphasizing ongoing support for them through various initiatives. The Veteran Services Agency, led by Gregory Carlson, provides essential services such as assistance with VA benefits, addressing post-traumatic stress disorder, and managing compensation claims. Carlson's team focuses on personalized support to help veterans transition from military service to civilian life.

Transportation remains a crucial need for veterans in rural areas. Chautauqua County offers rides to the Buffalo VA Medical Center via CHQ Transit on Wednesdays and Fridays. The county is working to expand this service to ensure all veterans can access necessary care.

Since 2017, the Dwyer Veteran’s Program has been fostering community among veterans under Cindy Reedy's leadership. Through activities like weekly coffee hours and an annual gala, it provides a supportive environment for veterans to connect with others who share similar experiences.

In August, the Veterans Wellness Fair at the Celoron Legion hosted over 35 agencies focused on veteran health and wellness. The event highlighted mental health and suicide prevention, connecting veterans with comprehensive care options.
