Chautauqua County is preparing for the upcoming General Election on November 5, 2024. Election Commissioners Luz E. Torres and Brian C. Abram have outlined key details for voters, including poll hours and voting locations.
The county has a total of 78,694 active registered voters. On Election Day, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with all county poll sites operational. There are no changes in poll sites from the previous year; however, some voters may notice changes if they haven't participated since 2020 or 2022.
Voters at Steger Apartments and FSUC Technology Incubator will now vote at the Clarion Hotel. Those previously voting at Heritage Green Nursing Home will go to Bemus Point United Methodist Church. Voters from Gateway Train Station/National Comedy Center should head to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
To find polling locations, check voter eligibility status, or view sample ballots, residents can visit www.votechautauqua.com or contact the Board of Elections at 716-753-4580.
Eligibility requires that voters be New York State citizens aged at least 18 by the election date and registered by October 26.
Voting technology includes signing in on an electronic poll book tablet where signatures are compared to those on file.
Election results will be available on www.votechautauqua.com starting at 9 p.m. after polls close. Early Mail/Absentee and Early Voting totals will also be posted online along with Election Day results from Carlson Community Center.
Mail/Absentee Ballots received after November 1 at 3 p.m., as well as Affidavit Ballots, will be counted post-Election Day. These ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and returned within seven days. Federal overseas and military ballots have up to thirteen days post-election to be counted.
