On October 27, 1869, the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post 107 was established in Jamestown. This organization provided Union veterans of the Civil War with a space for camaraderie and support. Although it disbanded in 1872, it was reorganized as Post 285 in 1882, continuing its legacy of service.

October 28, 1982, saw the dedication of the Chautauqua Lake Veterans Memorial Bridge. This bridge serves as an important connector for communities around the lake and stands as a memorial to local veterans.

Dunkirk witnessed a transportation milestone on October 29, 1891, with the debut of its first electric streetcar. This advancement modernized public transportation and made Dunkirk one of the early adopters of electric streetcars in the United States.

In Jamestown on October 30, 1908, music enthusiasts formed the Music Study Club to promote musical appreciation and performance within the community. The club operated until 2005 but left a lasting impact on nurturing arts in the area.

Jamestown hosted Chautauqua County's first women's suffrage convention on October 31, 1888. This event drew advocates discussing political equality for women and highlighted Jamestown's role in supporting social progress.

The Women's Christian Association (WCA) Hospital opened on November 1, 1887, serving as a cornerstone for healthcare in Jamestown by providing essential medical services and adapting to advancements over time.

On November 2, 1897, Jamestown became notable for being the first area in Chautauqua County to use voting machines during city council elections. This innovation aimed at improving voting accuracy and efficiency demonstrated a commitment to embracing new technology.

Lastly, November 2 also marks an incident from Prohibition-era history when gang violence erupted between rival bootlegging gangs in Busti. A gun battle resulted in the death of a Buffalo bootlegger—an event that highlights some darker aspects of that period.

These events represent various facets of Chautauqua County's history—from community building and technological progress to challenges faced by past generations—and provide insight into its diverse heritage.
