The Chautauqua County Office for Aging Services (OFAS) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. during the United Senior Council Meeting at the North Harmony Senior Center, located at 5377 Stow Ferry Rd, Stow, NY.
The hearing aims to provide an overview of OFAS programs and services and gather community feedback on unmet needs of older adults in Chautauqua County. This input will help shape the OFAS 2024-2025 plan focusing on the evolving needs of older adults, their care partners, and community members.
Older adults, caregivers, organizations, businesses, public officials, and residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on the long-term services and supports offered by OFAS and its contracted partners. The goal is not only to inform the community about available services but also to ensure these services are easily accessible.
A draft of the annual plan will be available for review before the public hearing on the OFAS website at chqgov.com/office-aging/office-for-the-aging or by requesting a copy through NY Connects at (716) 753-4582. If special accommodations are needed to attend or access documents due to hearing or vision impairments, contact NY Connects for assistance.
State law requires at least one public hearing during the development of the OFAS annual plan with public notice issued at least 21 days prior in a general circulation newspaper. These hearings allow community members to weigh in on the plan's focus on older adults' needs across the county.
Community participation is essential to align the plan with those it serves. All residents are encouraged to attend and contribute to shaping future services for older adults and their caregivers in Chautauqua County.
