The Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and Social Services has scheduled public hearings for October 11, 2024, as part of the development of the Chautauqua County Child and Family Services five-year plan. These hearings aim to inform residents about available services and gather feedback on their delivery.

The public is invited to participate in these sessions to provide input on child protective services, adult services, and family and children’s services. The hearings will take place at two locations:

Morning Session

- Date: October 11, 2024

- Time: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

- Location: Jamestown Community College, North County Training Center

- Address: 10807 Bennett Rd, Dunkirk, NY 14048

Afternoon Session

- Date: October 11, 2024

- Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

- Location: Jamestown Community College, Carnahan Theater

- Address: 525 Falconer Street, Jamestown, NY 14701

State law mandates at least one public hearing during the plan's development process with a notice provided at least 15 days prior in a general circulation newspaper.

"One of the key goals of the public hearing is to inform the community about the services available and how to access them," stated an official announcement. "This is also an opportunity for community members to raise issues and suggest improvements to service delivery."

Comments made during these hearings will be incorporated into the planning process before finalization. The draft plan will remain open for revisions based on public input.

Community members are encouraged to attend and contribute their perspectives on shaping future child and family services in Chautauqua County.
