On September 18, 2024, District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced that a Chautauqua County Grand Jury indicted Debbie Hires, 57, and Randall Rolison, 61, both residents of Jamestown. The charges include Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree.

The indictment alleges that on March 7, 2024, Ms. Hires provided Mr. Rolison with methamphetamine during a visit while he was housed at the Chautauqua County Jail. Corrections Officers promptly retrieved the methamphetamine from Mr. Rolison’s person. The incident was investigated by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division.

This event occurred shortly before Mr. Rolison was to be transferred to the custody of the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to begin serving his sentence for two fatal motor vehicle accidents he was convicted of in June 2023.

Ms. Hires was arraigned on September 4 by Judge David Foley and pled not guilty. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for an Omnibus conference on November 8. Mr. Rolison was produced from Attica Correctional Facility and arraigned on September 9 by Judge David Foley. He also pled not guilty and is scheduled for an Omnibus conference on November 12.

District Attorney Schmidt expressed gratitude to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and acknowledged the Corrections Officers involved for their diligent supervision and quick response.
