MAYVILLE, NY – Commissioners Luz E. Torres and Brian C. Abram have issued a reminder to voters about the upcoming deadlines for voter registration and address changes for the November 5, 2024 General Election.

“The deadline to register to vote is 10 days prior to the Election – Saturday, October 26. The document must be in the Board of Elections office by this date, this is NOT a postmark date,” noted Commissioner Abram.

The last day for the Board of Elections to receive a change of address is Monday, October 21. Voters who provide a change of address after this date may need to vote via Provisional Affidavit Ballot at their new poll site.

Voters can register through several sources:

- The New York State Board of Elections offers an online Voter Registration portal at nyovr.elections.ny.gov.

- The Department of Motor Vehicles provides an online MotorVoter portal for those with a valid New York State Driver’s License at voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter.

- Voter Registration forms are available at various City, Town, and Village offices, as well as Libraries and Post Offices within the County.

- Forms can also be downloaded from the Board of Elections website at www.votechautauqua.com. Voters should select ‘fit to page’ when printing registration forms to avoid cutting off important sections.

- Forms may be requested via mail by calling the Board of Elections at (716) 753-4580.

To verify registration status, voters can use the online voter lookup at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov or call the Board of Elections.

The Board of Elections office located at 7 N. Erie St., Mayville, NY 14757 is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Monday, October 14 for Columbus Day.

Special dates when the Board will assist with voter registration include:

- Saturday, September 28: Open from 2 PM to 9 PM for local voter registration.

- Thursday, October 10: Open normal hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) as it is the statewide date for local registration selected by the State Board of Elections.

- Saturday, October 26: Open from 9 AM to 5 PM as it is the last day to register.

“Don’t forget if you have changed your name and have not notified the Board of Elections; it will save you time at the poll site by updating your name and providing a new signature now,” added Commissioner Torres. “Otherwise, you will have additional paperwork to complete at the poll site when you go to vote.”
