The Alfred University women's basketball team finished their home doubleheader with a second victory over Keuka College 66-53 on Saturday afternoon at Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

The Saxons (14-9, 9-8 Empire 8) pulled out a close game due to a stellar fourth quarter, scoring 24 points in the period.

Leah Harkenrider (Hornell, NY/Hornell) led the Saxons in scoring with 21 points, two steals, one block and a rebound. Allison O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) added nine points, along with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Karly Welty (Portville, NY/Portville Central) also had nine points, six rebounds, four steals, four assists and a block.

"This was a long week for us. Five games in eight days is tough, especially the first two being our furthest opponents." Head Coach Mike Moskowitz said. "We then had a quick turnaround going up to a tough gym a few days later. To be able to finish the week at home certainly was beneficial to us because we were able to weather some not great play early on. We were very displeased with how we played in the first quarter, but things started to improve a few minutes into the second. What I'll always appreciate about this group is their resilience and fight. They worked together to make some runs and ultimately take control of the game."

Alfred University trailed by as many as eight points during the second quarter but battled back to lead 33-30 going to halftime. After gaining a three-point lead to end the second, the Saxons didn't lose that lead the rest of the way. Keuka never got closer than a four-point deficit in the third, and the fourth was all Saxons. Alfred maintained around a ten-point lead throughout the fourth and closed out a 13-point home victory for four straight wins.

"Next Saturday will certainly be a special day, as we celebrate our departing players. We're looking forward to showing them how appreciative we are for believing in us and our vision and giving everything they've got to help the growth of this program." Moskowitz said

Alfred University returns to action at home on Saturday, February 18th for their Senior Day and final game of the regular season against Elmira College, with the tip-off scheduled for 2:00 PM.
