CHAUTAUGUA COUNTY: Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Pomfret Water District #8 - Lily Dale Water Customers

Webp water106

Chautauqua County issued the following announcement on Sept 25.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services and the Town of Pomfret announced today that the boil water order in effect since Tuesday, July 14, 2020 for customers served by the Pomfret Water District #8 – Lily Dale water supply is now lifted. Water samples collected on September 21, September 22, and September 23 show that the water is safe to drink and use for all other purposes. The recently installed chlorine booster station has shown to be effective at eliminating the bacteria contamination found in the pipes. Additional rounds of sampling will continue to ensure the water remains safe.

Customers of the Lily Dale Assembly may continue to notice roily water and water that smells of chlorine. If your water is brown, please run cold water until the water clears.  If the water has a strong odor of chlorine, letting it sit in an open pitcher before using will allow the chlorine to dissipate.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services would like to thank all affected water customers for their cooperation and patience while the boil water order was in effect, and commend the Town of Pomfret and others involved in the water emergency for working together to manage the crisis.

For more information, please contact the Lily Dale Assembly at 716-595-8721 or the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services at 716-753-4481.
