Chautauqua County has introduced an online system for residents to pay delinquent property taxes. The Real Property Tax Division launched this service on the County's Real Property Tax website, under the Property Tax Lookup section. This initiative aims to provide taxpayers with a secure and accessible method to manage their tax obligations.
County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. commented, "This online payment system is another step forward in our commitment to making county services more accessible and user-friendly. By providing this option, we are giving residents the ability to make payments at their convenience without having to visit county offices in person."
The system allows users to search for parcels with outstanding tax liabilities and make payments using credit/debit cards or ACH transfers. A transaction fee is charged by the bank, but users are informed of this before completing their payment. Receipts can be sent via email or text message for record-keeping.
Kimberly A. Meleen, Director of the Real Property Tax Division, highlighted the advantages of this new option: "We understand that waiting in line or mailing payments isn’t always convenient. This new online payment option allows taxpayers to manage their obligations more efficiently. It’s a great solution for residents who are out of town or prefer to handle their payments electronically."
The system is available for all delinquent property tax payments except those linked with properties in bankruptcy. Assistance is available by phone from the Real Property Tax Division staff for those needing help with the portal.
Currently limited to delinquent taxes, this development aligns with Chautauqua County's efforts to modernize services and improve accessibility.
To use the online payment system, residents should visit the Chautauqua County Real Property Tax website and navigate to the Property Tax Lookup section.
