Chautauqua County is set to host its inaugural Civil Service Job Fair on October 25 in Mayville, New York. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2 Academy St., offering attendees the opportunity to explore various career paths within public service.

Representatives from multiple county departments will be present to provide information about available positions and answer questions. County Executive PJ Wendel highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “This job fair is an exciting opportunity for residents to see firsthand the vital roles Chautauqua County plays in our community and to find out how they can become a part of that mission.”

The job fair aims to showcase the diverse work carried out by Chautauqua County in areas such as public health, safety, infrastructure, and social services. Departments participating include County Attorney, Finance, Health, Mental Health and Social Services, Office for Aging Services, Office of District Attorney, Office of Public Defender, Office of Sheriff, Probation, Public Facilities, Airports, and CHQ Transit.

Attendees will also have a chance to win prizes through a basket raffle held during the event. Deborah Makowski, Director of Human Resources emphasized the benefits of attending: “This job fair provides an efficient way for potential candidates to meet with many departments in one place and explore a variety of career options."

Chautauqua County Government offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees including medical coverage options, dental and vision coverage, health savings accounts partially funded by the county, paid holidays along with sick and vacation accruals. Additional benefits include membership in the New York State Retirement system and eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness programs.

Free transportation services are available through CHQ Transit from several locations including Jamestown and Dunkirk to facilitate access to the job fair.
