Tamara M. Dickey has been appointed to the Chautauqua County Legislature, filling the vacancy left by Dave Wilfong, who resigned last month. Dickey will represent District 11, bringing a background in leadership and community involvement from her tenure in Jamestown, NY.
Dickey's history of public service is well-known in Chautauqua County. Elected as Jamestown City Councilwoman for Ward 3 in 2013, she has actively worked to empower her community. She holds a BS in Economics from St. Augustine University and an MBA from the University of Scranton. Additionally, she is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and serves as Senior Director in the Finance Department at Geisinger Health System.
Her career includes leadership roles at Duke University Health System, UPMC Chautauqua, and St. Lawrence Health System. Dickey has also been involved with organizations such as Save the Children, the YMCA, and Joint Neighborhood Projects. In 2023, she received the Shattered-Ceiling Award for Women of Achievement by the YWCA.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Chautauqua County Legislature,” said Dickey. “As a resident of Jamestown for over 20 years, I am excited to advocate for the taxpayers and families of District 11."
Legislature Chairman Pierre Chagnon expressed his support for Dickey’s appointment: “Tamara Dickey’s record of service and leadership speaks for itself. Her experience in finance, healthcare, and community advocacy will serve the residents of District 11 well."
Dickey has lived in Jamestown since 2004 with her husband Clyde W. Dickey; they own property in District 11 and have two adult children and eight grandchildren.
