The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition Program is seeking volunteers to assist with meal deliveries in the Delevan area. The program, which aims to support homebound senior citizens by providing them with meals, is in urgent need of individuals who can dedicate one hour per week.

"Meals on Wheels are delivered before noon Monday through Friday," stated a program representative. "Most volunteers deliver about 15 meals once a week and it takes approximately one hour to complete a route." Volunteers are also eligible for mileage reimbursement.

The primary objective of the Senior Wellness & Nutrition Program is to help seniors maintain their independence, delay or prevent nursing home placement, and improve or maintain their current health status. The role of volunteers is crucial as they ensure that elderly neighbors remain independent and receive necessary nutrition.

For those interested in volunteering or seeking further information, contact the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging at (716) 373-8032 or 1-800-462-2901. Alternatively, Chris Brehm at Delevan Home Delivered Meals can be reached at 716-492-2543.
