Sue Gagne, a mental health professional, was recognized this week as a New York State Senate 2024 “Woman of Distinction” at an event held in the Legislative Office Building in Albany. The award ceremony also celebrated other honorees from various parts of the state. This prestigious program aims to honor women who have made significant contributions to their professions and communities, and who serve as role models for others.
Senator George Borrello spoke highly of Gagne's commitment to her profession. "With extraordinary expertise and compassion, Sue Gagne has devoted her career to helping vulnerable individuals access the services they need to build stronger, better lives," he said. He acknowledged the challenges she faces working in rural communities like those in his district where resources are limited and stigma can deter people from seeking help until they reach a crisis point. "We are fortunate to have such a committed, effective and courageous professional on the front lines,” added Senator Borrello.
He further praised Gagne's dedication to mental health and recovery fields. "Sue’s work in these areas has truly been a calling for her. At a time when we are seeing mental health crises reach unprecedented levels, Sue’s dedication is an inspiration," Senator Borrello stated. He expressed his gratitude towards Gagne and all other honorees for their contributions and said it was an honor to recognize them in Albany.
