Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. urged everyone to attend the upcoming Workers' Memorial Day event, stating, "We encourage everyone to attend and remember our co-workers and family members who have tragically lost their lives while serving their communities."

The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Erlandson Overview Park in Frewsburg, NY, will feature Charles (Chuck) DeAngelo, a respected Jamestown Labor Lawyer, as the keynote speaker.

The Workers Memorial Site in Chautauqua County serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by workers. It includes the Workers Memorial Gazebo, a Memorial Monument, and a Brick Walkway bearing the names of those who have lost their lives while on the job.

During this year's ceremony, new plaques will be dedicated to honor the memory of members of the Chautauqua County Worker’s Memorial Committee who have recently passed away, including Jack Rudy, Doug Stock, and Don Brisky. Additionally, new bricks will be added to the memorial walkway, inscribed with the names of individuals who lost their lives while in the line of duty.

The ceremony promises to be a moving occasion, as the community gathers to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their fellow citizens. All are encouraged to attend and pay their respects, with a livestream available on Chautauqua County’s YouTube page for those unable to attend in person.
