Cody Boisvert, age 25 of Jamestown, has been sentenced in Chautauqua County court for his crimes. Judge David Foley handed down a determinate state prison sentence of 3.5 years with 5 years of post-release supervision after Boisvert was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C violent felony. Boisvert was found to be illegally in possession of a loaded handgun by officers from the Jamestown Police Department in July 2023 and later pleaded guilty to the charge in December of the same year.

In addition to the weapons charge, Boisvert also received an indeterminate state prison sentence of 1 to 3 years for being convicted of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree, a class E felony. These sentences will run concurrently. The investigation revealed that Boisvert was in possession of stolen firearms, for which he also pled guilty in December 2023.

District Attorney Schmidt expressed gratitude towards the Jamestown Police Department and the NYS Police for their diligent work on the case. Assistant District Attorney Erik Bentley led the prosecution.

The sentencing serves as a reminder of the legal consequences individuals face when engaging in criminal activities involving weapons and stolen property.
