It has come to our attention that some Afghan families, who have been resettled in the United States, are using an eyeliner called Kajal, Surma, or Kohl (there may be other names may be associated with this product). These products may contain lead.
Exposure to lead can be dangerous to everyone, especially children. Take steps to avoid lead poisoning by discontinuing use of cosmetics from other countries and speak to your medical provider about testing children and pregnant women for lead.
