Cattaraugus County's Board of Elections has announced extended hours to assist voters ahead of the upcoming General Election on November 5. The initiative, shared by Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler, aims to support voters needing absentee ballots.
The Board of Elections office is situated at 207 Rock City St. Suite 100 in the former Little Valley Elementary School. Extended hours are scheduled for the two weeks leading up to the election date. These additional hours are particularly beneficial for those who will be absent from Cattaraugus County due to various reasons such as work, education, or vacation, and for individuals with permanent physical disabilities or illnesses that prevent them from voting in person.
Voters can apply for an absentee ballot if they qualify under these circumstances. The ballot must be postmarked by November 7 or returned directly to a county board, early voting site, or poll location by the close of polls on Election Day if not completed at the office on the same day.
To receive an absentee ballot in person at the Board of Elections office, voters need to apply before November 5. Additionally, residents had until October 26 to register in order to participate in this election.
Absentee ballot applications and voter registration forms are accessible via mail, email, or download from the Board of Elections website. For this election only, registered voters may also request an absentee ballot through a state portal before October 26.
