District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Monday that Aubrey Baize, 30, of Falconer, was sentenced on July 15 in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 4 to 12 years. Baize was convicted by a Chautauqua County jury on April 25, 2024, for Arson in the Third Degree, a class C felony.

In July 2022, Baize intentionally started a fire in Kennedy, located in the Town of Poland. The fire consumed two houses and damaged others nearby. Residents of the destroyed homes lost valuable items, cherished property, and beloved family pets.

"The DA would like to thank the New York State Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office for their work on this case." This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Molitor and Alexander Scherer.
