Cattaraugus County Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler have announced early voting details for the 2024 Local Primary Elections. The elections, scheduled for June 25, will be held in Farmersville and Salamanca Ward 5.
The sole location for early voting will be the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections office at 207 Rock City Street, Little Valley. This site is accessible to voters with physical disabilities and will serve eligible voters from both election districts.
A Democratic primary to select a candidate for councilmember will occur in Salamanca Ward 5. In Farmersville, voters from the Democratic, Republican, Conservative, and Working Families parties will choose a candidate for town justice. Additionally, Republicans will vote for a candidate for Farmersville town councilmember.
Sample ballots for each party holding primaries are available on www.CattCo.org and at the early voting site.
To be eligible to vote during early voting or on Election Day, new voters must register with either the Republican or Democratic parties by June 15, 2024. Previously registered individuals who wished to change their party enrollment needed to do so by February 14.
Eligible voters may participate in early voting; however, those registering on June 15—the first day of early voting—must vote by affidavit ballot. Individuals who vote during the early voting period cannot vote again on Election Day (June 25) or any subsequent day of early voting.
New York State regulations prohibit casting a ballot on a voting machine if an absentee ballot has already been issued to prevent double voting. Voters with an issued absentee ballot can still vote in person using an affidavit ballot.
