Chautauqua Lake Symposium set for June 2 at Chautauqua Harbor Hotel

CELORON, NY – Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. invites the public to the Chautauqua Lake Symposium, an event focused on collaboration and sharing scientific insights to enhance the health and sustainability of Chautauqua Lake.

The symposium will feature a lineup of speakers including Julie Barrett O'Neill and Chad Staniszewski from the NYSDEC Region 9, Bonnie Lockwood, Governor Kathy Hochul’s WNY Regional Director, Senator George Borrello, Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, Dr. Allison Hrycik from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Jefferson Project, Dr. Harry Kolar from the Jefferson Project, LtCol Paul Lord from SUNY Oneonta, Dr. Richardson from North Carolina State University, and Dr. Marion Divers from the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Themed "Strength in Unity: Advancing Chautauqua Lake Together," the event aims to foster collaboration and share essential scientific data and insights. It will include presentations, discussions, and a Q&A session with attendees.

The symposium is scheduled for June 2, 2024. A meet-and-greet will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program at 9:00 a.m., at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel located at 10 Dunham Ave., Celoron, NY.

The event seeks to unite stakeholders, experts, and the public to share knowledge and expertise for improving Chautauqua Lake and its surrounding communities. The symposium is free and open to all attendees. It will also be live-streamed on Chautauqua County's YouTube page with a recording available afterward for those unable to attend in person.
