An article by Alfred University's Inamori Professor of Materials Science and Engineering S. K. Sundaram and his former student Sean Locker ’15 (B.S.) ’21 (PhD) that was published in the journal International Journal of Applied Glass Science, in 2020 now is regarded as "top-cited" in its field.
The article, “Structural modifications of soda-lime silicate glasses using femtosecond pulse-laser irradiation,” also was co-authored by Jennifer Clark, professor of engineering at North Carolina State University.
The International Journal of Applied Glass Science journal recently noted the article “is among our top cited papers and generated immediate impact” and is conveying a Certificate of Achievement to Sundaram.
Since receiving his PhD in glass science from Alfred University in 2021, Locker (who earned a B.S. in materials science and engineering) has been working at Corning Inc. as a melting process engineer. While an undergraduate and graduate student in Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering, he held several engineering internships at Corning Inc.
