During a meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature in June 2024, Mike Zamborik was recognized as Firefighter of the Year. The honor was presented by County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. and Legislature Chairman Pierre E. Chagnon.

Zamborik’s quick thinking and courageous actions during an emergency response to a plane crash at the Jamestown Airport were highlighted as key factors in saving lives. His bravery and dedication serve as an example of the commitment shown by first responders in Chautauqua County.
