The Chautauqua County Clerk’s Office has announced that the Mayville Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will return to its normal operating hours starting Friday, January 2, 2026. The office had reduced its public hours to three days a week in December due to staffing issues.

With the change, the Mayville DMV will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with transaction processing ending at 4:15 p.m. Residents who need Real ID or Enhanced Driver’s Licenses, or who are taking permit tests—including commercial driver’s license (CDL) and regular permits—are advised to arrive by 3:15 p.m. because these transactions require more time.

The Clerk’s Office also reminds residents that many DMV services can be completed online at www.dmv.ny.gov. These include registration renewals, address changes, requests for duplicate documents, and some license and permit services. Those who prefer assistance can call any county DMV office to process most renewal transactions by phone:

Mayville: 716-753-4229
Jamestown: 716-661-8220
Dunkirk: 716-366-0210

Transactions may also be completed by mail or through secure drop boxes located at each DMV office. Information about required forms and documents is available online.
