Chautauqua County’s Office for Aging Services has announced a new initiative in collaboration with USAging and Ring. The program aims to enhance the safety and independence of older adults through innovative technology. Residents aged 60 and above in Chautauqua County can receive a Ring Video Doorbell or Stick-Up Cam at no cost, providing them with tools to age in place more securely.
This initiative is part of USAging’s national partnership with Ring, which includes the donation of 5,000 devices to 10 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) across the United States. Chautauqua County will distribute 500 devices locally, each accompanied by a lifetime Ring Protect Basic subscription. This program builds on previous successful collaborations between Ring and AAAs in Florida and other states.
Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel stated, “Ensuring the safety of our community members is a top priority, and this program is a testament to the power of partnerships in achieving that goal.” Sheriff James Quattrone added that “technology like Ring plays a critical role in promoting public safety.”
USAging CEO Sandy Markwood emphasized the national significance of this initiative: “Ring is a technology that addresses critical needs of older adults by adding a layer of safety.” Karla Torres from Amazon Devices & Services expressed pride in supporting additional AAAs with this technology.
Eligible participants must be at least 60 years old, reside in Chautauqua County, and have access to Wi-Fi, a smartphone, and an email address.
