On May 3, 2025, Chautauqua County will pay tribute to workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job during the 24th Annual Workers Memorial Program in Frewsburg, NY. The event, marking its 25th year with a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, will be held at Erlandson Overview Park.
New York State Senator George Borrello will deliver the keynote address. Representing New York State’s 57th Senate District, Senator Borrello, a local resident, is known for his advocacy for workers and families.
Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. emphasized the importance of the event: “We invite all community members to attend and remember our friends, co-workers, and loved ones who were injured or killed while simply doing their jobs,” he said. “This is a day to reflect on their lives and reaffirm our commitment to safer workplaces.”
The memorial site at Erlandson Park includes the Workers Memorial Gazebo, a Memorial Monument, and a Brick Walkway engraved with the names of those who have died. The event is supported by local labor councils, Chautauqua County Government, the Parks Commission, and other sponsors.
The ceremony will also dedicate a tribute to past members of the Workers’ Memorial Committee who contributed significantly to the memorial’s development. Attendees are welcome to join in person or via livestream on Chautauqua County’s official YouTube page.
