Commissioners Luz E. Torres and Nacole L. Ellis from the Chautauqua County Board of Elections have announced key details for the upcoming June 24, 2025 Primary Election. Voter registration for those not already registered in Chautauqua County closes on June 14, with the Board of Elections office open from 9 AM to 5 PM for registrations.

According to New York State election law, any changes in political party affiliation had to be completed by February 14, 2025, for participation in this primary. The election is open to Democratic party members in Fredonia Village, Republican members in Carroll Town, and Conservative members in Portland Town. “All other party members or voters without a designated party are not eligible to vote in this Primary Election,” Commissioner Ellis clarified.

Early voting will take place at the Robert H. Jackson Center located at 305 E 4th St., Jamestown, NY. The center will serve as the sole early voting site from June 14 through June 22, excluding June 23. Early voting hours vary: Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM; Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 PM; Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Voters who choose early voting cannot cast another ballot during subsequent early voting days or on Election Day itself. Those requesting an Early Mail or Absentee Ballot must note that recent legal changes restrict them from using voting machines during early voting or on Election Day; they can only use a Provisional Affidavit Ballot if their absentee ballot has not been returned.

Commissioner Torres advised voters interested in previewing their ballots that “Sample Ballots are available to view at www.votechautauqua.com prior to going to vote and will also be available at the Robert H. Jackson Ctr. Early Voting site during Early Voting.”
